Analytical and bioanalytical approaches for the analysis of complex samples and trace analysis

Complex samples can be analyzed by different approaches depending on the analytical goal.

To characterize the whole sample content, it is necessary to improve the resolution of the analytical system and one issue consists in the development of multidimensional chromatographic systems.

On the opposite, if the study focusses on the analysis of target analytes at the trace level in a complex sample, a pretreatment step has to be added to concentrate the analytes before their proper analysis. For the pretreatment step, more or less selective devices can be developed and used, depending on the complexity of the sample.
